Principal's Message

I am so excited and grateful to be returning to Las Vegas High School as the newest principal. Las Vegas High School is a special place and is truly the Jewel of the Desert. As an alumnus of Las Vegas High School and a former teacher here for 10 years, I take great pride in serving as caretaker of this proud institution.
Our school is the oldest continually operated high school in southern Nevada. We have the oldest traditions, we are rich in pride, and we are tied to the very foundation of the Las Vegas community.
The success of Las Vegas High School comes from the dedication and hard work of our teachers, staff, parents, and students. The Wildcat community only knows how to do things one way -- the Wildcat Way, and that is made evident with the success of our academic programs, our performing arts groups, and our athletic teams.
The faculty and staff of Las Vegas High School will strive to cherish, lead, and grow our students in order to develop the minds of our Wildcats so they can achieve their desired future goals. We encourage our students to get involved and take advantage of the opportunities they face in class, on stage, and on the field as they prepare themselves for college and career readiness.
Once a Wildcat, ALWAYS a Wildcat!
Mr. Raymond Ortiz, Principal
